On the largest plateau of the Jura area, a hundred different-sized lakes can be found in the "Région des lacs" doted around grandiose and hidden-away landscapes. Located between Lons-le-Saunier and St-Claude at 429 m above sea level, Vouglans is the most imposing of these stretches of water and the 3rd barrier lake in France. It is over 35km wide and covers 1,600 ha divided into three areas of activity : fishing, motorboating and sailing. The Surchauffant camping site is located in the motorboating area and amateur sailors can moor their boat at Port du Meix (300m).
